Corvette Body Kits
Do you hear people talking about body kits on their cars and you are not exactly sure what they are? Well it’s simple. A body kit is a collection of exterior modifications to a car which is composed of both front and rear bumpers, spoilers and in some cases, front and rear side guards as well as roof scoops. When it comes to corvette body kits, there are many companies that offer this simple way to alter the factory appearance of a corvette.
A body kit is designed to come with components that compliment each other and work together as one holistic design. However, sometimes people “mix and match,†and decide to get separate colors that either don’t match the car, or don’t match the other components. For example, have you ever seen a car with a blue back bumper and a red front bumper? As tacky as it sounds, there is cases like this out there.
A vehicle’s body kit is usually constructed from either fiberglass, polyurethane, or sometimes with carbon fiber. Although it can easily crack at impact, fiberglass is very cheap and widely available. Likewise, polyurethane is also popular because it is quite flexible and is a lot more resistant to damage. Though carbon fiber body kits are rare, they are sometimes seen on illegal vehicles. The cost of this material is far higher than the other materials. Because factory fitted body kits are becoming more and more popular, the growth of this aftermarket alternative is forcing manufacturers to now work in-house to develop new motor sports divisions and valuable styling upgrades.
